Everybody loves Marvel and The Cinematic Universe of Marvel (MCU). The first film released in the MCU was Iron Man (2008) which was a hit. Since Iron Man, 33 movies has been released in the MCU till date and most of the movies are both critically and commercially successful.

Superheroes lovers are all over the globe, so the Marvel movies do not just earn big in domestic box-office, they rule the box-office worldwide. With 33 movies released in this franchise, earning more than $ 29 billion (242,346+ crore INR) makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe  highest-grossing franchise and film series till date.


Iron Man (2008)

Iron Man was not so famous before this movie but after this debut movie everything was changed and Tony Stark became everyone’s favourite Marvel character and Robert Downey Jr. gained many fans worldwide.


The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Budget: $150 million (978 crore+ INR)

Worldwide Total$263,427,551 (1718+ crore INR)

This is the only movie in MCU which is considered unsuccessful. Maybe that’s why we got our new Hulk in the form of Mark Ruffalo.


Iron Man 2 (2010)

Budget: $200 million (1302 crore INR)

Worldwide Total: $623,933,331 (4063+ crore INR)

Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man once again created the magic at the box-office in 2010.


Thor (2011)

Budget: $150 million (974+ crore INR)

Worldwide Total: $449,326,618 (2918+ crore INR)

Chris Hemsworth was introduced as Thor.The collection of Marvel’s Thor did not beat  Iron Man at the box office but still it managed to earn good amount of money.


Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Budget: $140 million (905+ crore INR)

Worldwide Total: $370,569,774 (2396+ crore INR)

Marvel introduced Chris Evans  as Captain America. The film performed well and the trailer of ‘THE AVENGERS‘ was released with this film.


The Avengers (2012)

This film was like dream come true for comic book fans, and the budget of this film was very high. It was the costliest Marvel film back in 2012 and from this film AVENGERS became famous worldwide. It was the highest grossing opening weekend of all time and it currently stands as the 5th-highest grossing film of all time.


Iron Man 3 (2013)

Marvel was back with Iron Man 3 and it perfomed extremely well. Offcourse Iron Man 3 did not beat The Avengers but being a solo film, It earned good amount of money and it currently stands as the 3rd-highest grossing film in MCU and 12th-highest grossing film in the world.


Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Budget: $170 million (1099+ crore INR)

Worldwide Total$644,571,402 (4168+ crore INR)

Thor : The Dark world performed slightly  better than the original at the box office. On November 3rd Marvel is releasing Thor: Ragnarok. It will be third film in the ‘Thor‘ Franchise and 17th film in the MCU.


Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Worldwide Total$714,264,267 (4619+ crore INR)

The Winter Soldier earned almost double of The First Avenger.


Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

This was a risky project because this movie was incredibly different than other Marvel movies and the success of Guardians Of The Galaxy revealed the power of Marvel’s brand.

Avengers were back with new members and with a bigger threat to fight. The budget of Age of Ultron was higher than The Avengers but it did not surpass the earning of the original one. Experts believe that Mayweather-Pacquaio fight affected the earning of Age Of Ultron.

Marvel packed this film with a bunch of superheroes and it performed extremely well at the box-office. Captain America: Civil War is Marvel’s 4th-highest grossing movie and 14th-highest grossing in the world.

Marvel introduced Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. The visuals of this movie were awesome and it earned over half a billion worldwide.


Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

Marvel and James Gunn were back with Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2 this year and fans loved it. It was successful at box-office and easily surpassed the original at the box-office.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) is the 16th movie in MCU. Tom Holland as Spiderman was introduced last year in Civil War and in 2017 movie he got his own solo hero movie. Because Spiderman is the most popular character of marvel this movie was a commercial success.


Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Thor: Ragnarok (2017) was the 3rd movie in THOR franchise and 17th movie in MCU. Audience loved the movie because of the stunning visuals and light hearted comedy.


Black Panther (2018)

Black Panther (2018) received worldwide acclaim because of it’s race- and gender-conscious casting and costuming. It had the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Black director, Ryan Coogler; an almost entirely Black lead cast; and a number of Black women in powerful and engaging roles.

Shang-Chi (2021) introduced us with the first asian superhero in the MCU. It was one of the best performing movies during COVID-19 pandemic. In India Shang-Chi grossed over 30 crore.
