The officials found marijuana and items used for its consumption in her luggage. As a result, she and her friend were arrested on suspicion of bringing marijuana and related items into the country.
They were taken to the Prisoner Detention Center but later released on bail. Gigi and her friend appeared in court on July 12 and pleaded guilty. They were fined $1,000 but are not facing any additional charges.
Gigi’s representative stated that she had marijuana with her, which she legally purchased in NYC with a medical license. He also mentioned that medical use of marijuana has been legal in Grand Cayman since 2017. Gigi’s record remains clear, and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.
