“In time, you will know what it’s like to lose. To feel so desperately that you’re right, yet to fail all the same. Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives.”
Thanos was one of the last sons of A’Lars (also known as Mentor), progenitor of the second colony of Eternals on Titan (a moon orbiting the planet Saturn). He was Born with grey, hide-like skin and a massive body due to his Deviant Syndrome. At birth, his mother attempted to kill him. During his school years , Thanos was a pacifist and would only play with his brother Eros. He was a morose (lonely, sad and angry) child who became obsessed with the concept of death.
Through Bionic implantation and meditation , Thanos augmented his natural Eternal Powers and surpassed all the other Eternals on Titan.
Here are some Uknown Facts About THANOS You Never Knew :-
10. He Killed his family
As his forces developed, so did his aspiration for victory and demolition. Thanos stole one of his kin’s starships and ventured to every part of the universe hunting down soldiers of fortune and killjoys for a vast private armed force. Hoarding a little armada, he dropped atomic bombs on his home universe of Titan, murdering a great many individuals, including his mom Sui-San. He proclaimed himself the leader of what stayed of Titan, and set his sights on the close-by planet of Earth.
09. In the Comics, Drax was created to kill him
While driving through a desert with his wife and daughter, real estate agent Arthur Douglas’ car was attacked by a spaceship piloted by the Mad Titan Thanos, because he thought the humans had seen him. As a result, believing that Thanos had gone too far, his father Mentor and his grandfather Kronos (both incredibly powerful beings themselves) imbued the spirit of Douglas in a clay body with a very clear and sole mission – the task of killing Thanos. The being created as a result would go on to be known as Drax the Destroyer. Of course, he has only succeeded once in his mission, while dying many times himself in the process, but it says something about Thanos when two people who should be very close to him wanted him dead. As a side note, Thanos’ father Mentor adopted Douglas’ daughter Heather when he died at the hands of the Mad Titan. She would go on to become the powerful telepath Moondragon.
08. He has a bunch of clones based on other characters
Thanos has a load of generic clones that look exactly like him and they are known as the “Thanosi”. Thanos makes them using basic cloning techniques, sorcery and technology and he uses them to gauge the power of foes before he faces them himself and they have often been used to retcon his poor showings (Thanos was too easily defeated in an issue? Say it was a clone a few issues later!). However, he also has a load of clones that were created by mixing his own DNA with that of his most powerful foes and allies and the most powerful of them was undoubtedly Omega – a clone of Thanos merged with the DNA of Galactus himself. Others included X (using the DNA of Charles Xavier), Mystic (using the DNA of Doctor Strange), Armour (using the DNA of Iron Man) and Warrior (using the DNA of Gladiator).
07. He has multiple children
His most famous child is the assassin, Gamora. She isn’t one of his biological children, rather he adopted her and raised her as his own to serve as his right hand. Gamora was the sole survivor of the alien humanoid race called the Zen Whoberis, a peace-loving people whose population were wiped out by a zealous religious order seeking to establish a galaxy-wide empire. The mad Titan Thanos rescued Gamora and raised her on his space-station, Sanctuary.
He also has a son, Thane. Thane is the secret Inhuman son of Thanos. After a descendant Inhuman tribe ran afoul of Thanos and his army, one Inhuman woman returned home pregnant with Thanos’ child. Thane grew to adulthood and became a healer among his people. When Thanos eventually came looking for him, he underwent Terrigenesis and developed powers, and an appearance similar to his father’s. One of his new powers enabled him to trap Thanos in amber, ensuring the Mad Titan was trapped in a state between life and death.
He has had other children, including Rot, a child he fathered with Death. He has succeeded in killing many of them, however.
06. His powerset is frightening
Thanos is essentially Titan’s equivalent of one of Earth’s mutants and, as a result, he has a load of powers. Thanks to the fact that he’s a genius, Thanos also often comes up with schemes that would cause powerful foes immense trouble even if he wasnt incredible powerful by default. They generally involve an ambition to acquire items that allow him to rule the universe, such as the Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet and the Heart of the Universe. His genius is such that it’s almost a superpower unto itself. But he also possesses a load of powers even without such item-based augmentation. Physically, he is a complete beast, possessing superhuman strength even greater than that of the likes of Hulk and Thor. He is also durable enough to completely shrug off all out physical attacks from the likes of the Silver Surfer. He is also very quick not necessarily in terms of his travel speed, but in terms of his reflexes. This was evident when a faster-than-light Silver Surfer attacked him and he was able to react to the attack and defeat the Herald of Galactus with ease. He also possesses a plethora of esoteric powers and abilities such as telepathy (at a level that allows him to hold off psionic attacks from the likes of Moondragon), teleportation, powerful energy blasts, the ability to manipulate various types of energy and matter transmutation.
05. He was born with “Deviant Syndrome”
A lot of the power Thanos demonstrates on a regular basis is augmented by technology and/or magic and he often uses powerful items like the Infinity Gauntlet, Cosmic Cube and Heart of the Universe to amp himself further – sometimes to omnipotent levels – but the fact is that he is very powerful even without any external means aiding him. The people of Titan aren’t, by default, anywhere near as strong, durable or powerful as Thanos – and that’s because he was born with a genetic condition known as “the Deviant Syndrome”. As well as making him superhumanly strong and tough and granting him a plethora of powers (which have previously been listed in this article), it also rendered him a less than attractive baby – as you can see from the picture.
04. He celebrates Christmas (and bought Gamora presents)
In order to psychologically condition Gamora to be more than just a soulless killing machine, Thanos provided her with as normal a childhood as he could muster. He reasoned that she would function better if she were to have a childhood therefore she would not be simply psychotic but capable of reason.
In doing so, he chose to assign her a birthday and each year celebrated a modern Earth style Christmas, complete with gift-giving, a Christmas tree, and the illusion of Santa. He even goes as far as to call a truce each year and send gifts to surviving family members such as his brother, Eros. Exactly how he got his hands on a Christmas tree, remains a mystery.
03. His brother is an Avenger
Eros is the youngest son of two Eternals, A’Lars and Sui-San. Eros grew up to be a fun-loving, carefree womanizer in contrast to his brother Thanos, a power-hungry, misanthropic schemer. Only when Thanos launched his first major attack against Titan, an attack that left their mother Sui-San dead, did Eros begin to take life a bit more seriously.
In a campaign against Thanos, Eros fought alongside the survivors on Titan as well as Captain Mar-Vell and the Avengers. Thanos would be defeated here for the first time. After this, and realising his wanderlust once more, Eros travelled to Earth and looked up the Avengers.
The Avengers allowed Eros to join under the name Starfox, feeling his given name was inappropriate. He fought alongside them for several months, helping to defeat Terminus and Maelstrom. He would later leave the Avengers to pursue the space-pirate Nebula, whom he discovered was his niece.
02.He can easily obliterate half of the universe in an instant
Once Thanos accomplished his goal of gathering all of the Infinity Stones, no one knew what he would do first. All they knew is that it would be something huge—and Thanos surely didn’t disappoint. In one of Thanos’s most noteworthy accomplishments to date, he simply snapped his fingers and erased half of the life in the entire universe just to test the reach of his newfound power.
01.He was once defeated by Squirrel Girl
Things haven’t always gone to plan for Thanos. He’s had more than his share of defeats, but none quite so embarrassing as losing to a human squirrel and her army of furry companions. That’s right the vicious, murderous, insanely powerful, seemingly unbeatable and sometimes omnipotent Thanos… was once defeated by Squirrel Girl!
While not officially set within the established Marvel cannon, GLX-MAS #1 published in 2005, was intended as a parody as it was in a special holiday issue. In it, however, the Watcher stated that it was indeed Thanos and not a clone or other imposter, poking fun at the times where Thanos has been defeated a little too easily only to claim later that it wasn’t really him. No wonder Squirrel Girl has earned aliases like “The Anti-Life” and “The Slayer of All That Breathes.”
THANOS will make his full debut as the main villain in Avengers: Infinity War.
